RotaKids Branding & Merit Guide

Visual identity specifications and the philosophical framework of the Gear of Service.

1. Core Visual Identity

The RotaKids brand is the bridge between childhood and community service. Its visual identity must be approachable and distinctive, while remaining firmly rooted in the Rotary heritage.

a) Brand Color: Turquoise

PMS 7466C / Hex #00adbb

This color is unique within the Rotary family, symbolizing freshness, energy, and clarity of purpose.

b) Typography: Open Sans

The official RotaKids typeface, consistent with Rotary International's digital brand standards.

2. The Gear of Service Merit System

The Three Wheels system represents the developmental journey of the RotaKids member. Progress is not from "small to large", but from "belonging" to "acting" and, ultimately, to "setting others in motion".

LEVEL I - THE SOLID WHEEL ("TO BE / BELONGING")

Significance: The stage of values assimilation. The child learns what it means to belong to a team, to make a pledge, and to show up for others.

  • 1st Marker: Awarded upon meeting the first milestone (e.g., recitation of the Pledge).
  • 2nd Marker: Completion of an individual contribution to a club project.
  • 3rd Marker: Demonstrated consistency and sustained participation.
LEVEL II - THE SPOKED WHEEL ("TO DO / DIRECTION")

Significance: The child now holds a specific role within the mechanism. They learn individual responsibility and the value of coordinated effort.

  • 1st Marker: Completion of an individual task within a specific project.
  • 2nd Marker: Coordination of a small team or sub-group.
  • 3rd Marker: Mentoring a new Level I member.
LEVEL III - THE COGWHEEL ("TO MULTIPLY / LEADERSHIP")

Significance: The capacity to move other mechanisms. Final preparation for transition to Interact and lifelong service.

  • 1st Marker: Initiating and planning a new project from scratch.
  • 2nd Marker: Collaboration with the sponsoring Rotary Club or local authorities.
  • 3rd Marker: Full completion of Level III (Master Gear milestone).

3. Physical Badge Specifications

To ensure global accessibility and a zero cost barrier, this guide encourages local production of badges:

  • Badge Format: Circular disc, 38mm (everyday) or 58mm (outdoor activities).
  • Marker Systems: Two sets of circle positions (Level Markers at 9 o'clock, Progress Markers at 3 o'clock).
  • Low Cost: Estimated cost per unit should remain under USD 0.50, allowing any club to implement without subsidies.

4. Brand Protection & Digital Assets

The transfer of digital assets to RI ensures a unified global registry:

  1. rotakids.net - Official global registry of verified clubs.
  2. rotakids.org - Central library for handbooks and templates.
  3. rotakids.com - Global fundraising and awareness platform.
  4. rotakids.club - Standardized digital identity for new clubs.
