The Pioneer Model: RotaKids Pitesti and 12 Years of Institutional Continuity
RotaKids Pitesti (Romania) provides evidence that the programme can become more than a one-year project or a single-person initiative.
Chartered on 23 March 2014, following a development phase that began in 2012. The club has operated continuously across successive generations of children, mentors, and Rotary leadership. This serves as a "proof of concept" for the 2026 Resolution.
The club has successfully passed from its founding local leadership to new RotaKids chairs. This demonstrates that RotaKids functions as a sustainable, intergenerational Rotary-family programme rather than a temporary local experiment dependent on a single individual.
Internal tracking data shows that over 2/3 of RotaKids members in Pitești continue their Rotary journey through Interact and later Rotaract. RotaKids serves as the practical, early entry point that secures the future of Rotary membership.
Official Charter: March 23, 2014
"By the time a child reaches the age of 12 in the Pitești model, their perception of community and service is already shaped. They don't just 'join' Rotary later; they grow up as part of the Rotary family, making Service Above Self a core part of their identity."
Proving deep institutional roots, the domain RotaKids.ro was registered on November 12, 2012. This initiated a two-year foundation period involving extensive board sessions at the Rotary Club of Pitesti and the drafting of governing documents. The first RotaKids meetings began in Autumn 2013, establishing the practical framework long before the formal chartering in March 2014.
The RotaKids Club Pitesti (D2241) case does not prove that every implementation will achieve the same results. It proves that the model can survive leadership change, operate safely over time, and create a measurable pathway into Interact and Rotaract.
The experience of District 2241 supports the central purpose of the 2026 Resolution: to provide a common framework for a programme that is already capable of continuity, transition, and long-term service impact when supported by a Rotary club and District.
Data verified by District 2241 RotaKids Committee (2014-2026).
